Yudhishthira is a character in the Mahabharata whose father, the god of justice, asks philosophical questions for wich he always has an answer. In Peter Brook’s film, one of the questions is “what is inevitable for all men?”, and Yudhishthira gives the right answer:”happiness”

Invisible People is inspired by Ralph Ellison’s book Invisible Man, where he discusses about so many people being incapable of really “seeing” others. Even now, we still persist on ignoring more than half the world because it has a different background, religion, culture…

Sometimes we meet someone just once, and become friends for the rest of our lives. We Met Once is for our friend Lucian Sabados, who we are so lucky as to meet again from time to time.

Monk on the Beach is a tribute to Thelonious Monk…and to Philip Glass. Shifted phrases, quarter notes and quarter rests phrases…and space to play.

We played at the Sonvico Jazz Festival, in Switzerland, in August 2008. Lake Lugano, the mountain ridge of the Denti della Vecchia (Old Woman’s Teeth) and above all our friends Brian and Simon Quinn inspired this song.

34th Street: the first time I went to New York, I was 18 years old and all by myself, and I ran out of money, lost my return ticket and my passport. Unforgettable! And I fell in love with New York for ever.

Views: the view from my home takes in fields and trees, mountains, clouds and birds, sunsets and animals…It’s always the same and always different.

San Qiu – Three Autumns: A Chengyu is a kind of chinese proverb made using just four characters whose meaning often exceeds the sum total of the individual characters’ meaning. This song takes its title from  一日三秋, yírìsānqiū – one day three autumns – just one day of absence feels like three years. Te echo de menos, Pepe.

Personnel: Antonio Flinta piano, Piercarlo Salvia tenor sax, Roberto Bucci bass, Claudio Gioannini drums
