Songs, Poets and Rights

Or putting together Wayne Shorter, Jalal ad-Din Rumi and Migrants.

Our project in trio in the past two years has been strongly based on music by artists we admire like Wayne Shorter, Paco de Lucia… , on original compositions inspired by poets like Rumi, W.H.Auden and Neruda, but also very much concerned with the world we live in. As Nina Simone said “an artist’s duty is to reflect the times”.

These are some of them:

Cancion de Amor, a beautiful and haunting song from the album Paco de Lucia dedicated to Zyryab, the poet and musician that introduced the Oud in Iberia and that would become the spanish guitar.

“Lover whispers to my ear, Better to be a prey than a hunter…” Jalal ad-Din Rumi was a Sufi mystic and poet of the 13th-century and the founder of the order of the whirling dervishes. Rumi’s Enchantment is our loving homage to his poems.

Yo Hombre del Mundo, song composed by our bassist Roberto Bucci and dedicated to all migrants, to their willpower and their faith in a better life against all odds.
